Selling Stun Guns, Pepper Sprays, Tasers at Home Parties
Many people want to know how to get started doing home parties. Most think there should be some formal way of doing this. But, its not necessary.
The hardest part of this business is getting the parties set up. Once you are at the party, it’s easy. The products will sell themselves. I know you’ve heard this before, but with these products it’s true.
You must take product, enough product for the amount of people attending. Don’t go to a home party thinking you can take a demo and get people to order out of the catalog. These are high impulse products. If you get them in front of people, you will sell them, but you need to let them go home with what they purchased.
So, you are at the party with your products spread out before you. Now you introduce the products and if you can, demonstrate how they work. If its a stun gun, pass it around and let everyone fire it. People will be twitching and jumping and laughing but totally engaged. You will sell them!
At the party, just be yourself. Don’t worry about a formal presentation. Tell them about the products and let them ask questions. Just talk to them like you would your best friend. You don’t need to try to sell them or have a sales pitch.
The only sales technique I would use would be scarcity. If you know you are going to a party where 10 people are expected, I would take only 8 of each product…less on the more expensive products like the Tasers or baby monitor. This will create a atmosphere of scarcity. You show the stun gun then announce to the 10 people there you only brought 8 with you. Trust me, this works very well.
The best way to start, is to get a friend to host it and invite everyone you can think of. Then during the party ask if anyone would like to host one. Have a nice gift that you give the host or hostess. It doesn’t have to be related to the products you sell. It can be a gift certificate for dinner for two at a nice restaurant or four movie passes. Referrals are a good way to build your party business.

Its great to see such blogs containing information about safety technology posted on it, i find this blog to be a useful one, in order to know such information.

Home Parties for selling self defense products is a great idea. Customers really want to be able to see these products up close and personal, hold them in their hand, maybe fire off a stun gun, or hold a pepper spray in their hand.
Potential customers just don’t get the same experience and emotion from reading about these products on a web site.

Yes, I know parties would do well and I intend to start having parties after Oct. Right now my shift at work of 5pm – 10 pm won’t allow it, and I will need alot of inventory to start.
If I can make $40,000 plus selling sex toys in the Bible belt of Georgia; I can make much more selling these items at home parties.

I’m so excited about hosting my first TASER Party in the Orlando area! I agree with Ann. I work at Pier 1 Imports, and if I can sell thousands of dollars of candles and wicker to women, I can sell Self-Defense Products!! I’ll let you know how it goes!

Hi Mike, that’s a great idea. I already have a friend who will host a party, and I have enough on hand to start. I like the idea of scarcity, then it gets down to who wants it more. Let them fight!
Thanks!

I recently contacted a couple local people who do home parties. Many people want the opportunity to get items free and there isnt much required on their part. We will see how it works out. http://www.youbsafe.com.

Hello Again Mike, And Everyone,
I have once had lots of success in the past with a home party plan way of selling. Here are some easy steps, for anyone who is serious about this business, particularly if you want to expand in the direction of home parties…
Step #1: You encourage a person, or couple, to host a home party, by getting them to agree on a specific date and time. You ask them to invite as many people as possible because only about half will show up. If they all show up…GREAT!
Step #2: You tell them that you want it to be ***night between 7 and 9 PM, you will arrive at 6:30 to set up, and they only put out chips, dip, and soda, or coffee and cake.
Step #3: You explain that at the end of the night, the total of the sales made, they will get 10% in the form of FREE products. For example…the total sales are $600, so they would receive $60 worth of products. (Note: YOU made $300 or slightly more, and you’re giving them products that cost you $20 to $30 depending on what they choose.)
Step #5: Tell them to inform everyone that there will be a nice door prize. YOU are going to, near the end of the party, put all of the names in a bowl, let another person choose a name, and you’ll give that person a gift. A free product that you feel comfortable giving…I’d pick somthing that retails for about $20 or $25, it ONLY costs ME $10…
Step #6: You tell the couple that you’ll give them some catalogs and order forms, and anyone they invite, who says they can’t come, try to get an order from them, prior to the party. “When I arrive, ***night, for the total of your outside orders, I’ll give you 15% commission in free products!”
Step #7: As people arrive at the party, try to meet and greet, and remember everyone’s name. Dale Carnegie “How To Win Friends And Influence People” says, the sweetest sound to anyone’s ears is the sound of their own name. (If you haven’t read that book yet…run right out and get one today!!!)
Step #8: You’ll play a game, where someone will win a prize, perhaps a key chain pepper spray (your cost ONLY $3 and change) You have to be generous for a really BIG party, plus you’ll be building a reputation. I’d even go to a dollar store and get a bunch of something cool, and I’d tell the host or hostess, that everyone who attends gets a gift for attending, then at the beginning of the party, I’d play a game where everyone takes turns telling the group their name, where they’re from, and one silly or interesting fact about themselves. This creates a fun atmopshere, puts people at ease, and helps YOU to remember everone’s name. Then after the game, you give everyone their gift for attending. People LOVE gifts, prizes, bargains…don’t YOU?
Step 9: If you want, you can play a second game, and give away another item that only costs you $3 but has a value of $10 or so. Also, you announce that you NEED to book two more parties for the upcoming 14 day period, and IF someone dates a party right then and there, before the night is up, THEY’LL be leaving with this wonderful…(another item valued at Ten Bucks) and believe ME, someone will date a party.
Step 10: You’ll give that person the catalogs for outside orders, explain the things I’ve already covered, Invite many people, et cetera…
Step 11: After an hour or 90 minutes of a few demos, questions, and games…you explain that you’ll sit over there, and anyone who wants to make a purchase or place an order, come on over and you’ll help them. You then tell them what forms of payment you accept.
Step 12: You will have so much FUN, and guess what? EVERYONE WILL BUY SOMETHING!!! The more attendees, the bigger the total dollar amount of the party! You let anyone who wants, take a catalog home and a few of your cards or order forms.
Step 13: If someone has a tiny apartment, or just can’t host a party, but is interested in earning FREE products, you suggest a book party, where you’ll give them two or three catalogs, and a bunch of order forms. They get a time limit, like two weeks, and they get as many orders (with payments) from people they know. When they turn these in to you, you total them up, figure Ten Percent, then let them choose FREE products, and you can throw in a Thank You Gift for having a party! (Depending on how big the total is.)
Steps I may have missed: At a party, after everyone arrives, you make a BIG presentation by giving the hosts a Thank You Gift in front of everyone! (Note: If there are only 3 or 4 people present, I will only give a pepper spray key chain, however if there are 18 to 25 people present, chances are you may sell $500 or more, so I’d give a Thank You Gift valued at $25 to $30, costing me $10 to 15, but what the heck…the party will be worth it!)
Step: When having host invite people, tell them it’s a night out for the adults, and to get a sitter, there won’t be any kids around. Very important: You don’t want a bunch of kids running around, yelling, bickering, distracting from YOUR sales presentation. Plus, sooner or later, even if they’re out in the yard, one comes in crying with a problem (choose any and insert here) and it disrupts the whole momentum of your party and your sales! This is YOUR business, treat it like one!
Special Note: One Week after I received my “Tired Of My Day Job” starter package, my day job got rid of ME! I am so HAPPY that they did! I don’t EVEN need them now, as I have my own business!
Step: Encourage host not to spend a bunch on party…chips, dips, and sodas OR cake and coffee…NO alcohol! This is YOUR business, not a fraternity party! Be professional, take it seriously, and they will too! Treat it like a joke, and it WILL be a joke. The party plan way of selling is SUPERFANTASTIC, perticularly IF you do it well!
Also, as people complain about the bad economy, whether you’re trying to date a party, sell at a party, or sell face to face somewhere else, you should point out that crime is rising, especially because things are getting so tough with money. There are more and more wallet and purse snatchings, and people really need some sort of PROTECTION! If they say they “Can’t afford it” I tell them “For ONLY $10 or $20, they can’t afford NOT to have it!”
Step: Please let Mike know how much you liked my advice here! Plus, I’d love to know! Good Luck To All Of You, My Fellow Dealers, from Joe in Celebration, FL…”Peace, Love, and Pepper Sprays (just in case)…To Everyone!”
“THE PERSON WHO SAYS IT CANNOT BE DONE SHOULD NOT INTERRUPT THE PERSON WHO IS DOING IT!”

Let’s all get busy…Good Luck and God Bless…

I am finding Home Parties to be fun and profitable. In addition to product info & demos, I provide personal safety info including handouts. My hostesses and guests LOVE IT especially the ‘seminar’. I’ve had several folks say they refer to the handouts long after the home party.

Non-lethal personal defense defense products
Sales marketing gatherings in party format is a fantastic idea! Looking back at the times I was with small groups of people and showed several products, I always sold a few, no effort necessary..EVERYONE inherently KNOWS they need to have additional security, and products like the ‘heart attack’, pepper-spray, pen-knifes, covert stun devices like the ‘Pretender’, and numerous other products are desired even more when others are around…Will try this…Thanks for motivation!
