Powerful Proof For Using Long Tail Keywords
My controversial posting on my blog gives us another good marketing example and proof of the value of using long tail keyword phrases if you market on the Internet.
So, put away your outrage, if you happen to be an Obama fan, and open your eyes to this powerful marketing example. You can continue to be pissed at me afterwards, but for right now learn from this.
In just a few short days, I am number one in Google for the long tail keyword phrase “My Reasons For Not Voting For Obama” if you search for it using quotation marks (exact search) like I did here. That’s number one out of 105 results.
If you type it in without the quotation marks, my blog is number 6 out of 1,440,000 results.
The reasons this happened is because its a not very competitive keyword phrase and because of the many comments you guys gave which added to the content and therefore increased its importance to Google. More proof of the value of having a blog on your website.
Now, if you remove the “My” from the keyword phrase, the keyword phrase becomes more competitive. If you search in Google for the phrase Reasons For Not Voting For Obama, without the quotation marks, my blog comes up 126 out of 7,540,000. That’s not good enough to be found for that phrase, but with some other work, like using Web 2.0 sites to create some content and then linking to the blog from there using the phrase in the anchor text, I could probably greatly improve the ranking.
Now if you search for the phrase using quotation marks, “Reasons For Not Voting For Obama”, I come up number 6 in Google out of 2,090 results. Pretty good! Remember, I only wrote this post 3 days ago.
So, please use this as an example for using long tail keywords in your content. It will be much easier to get ranked higher in the search engines if you do.
OK, now you Obama fans can go back to being pissed at me.
P.S. Try to use everything in your life to learn from. All things, even bad things, give us knowledge and understanding if we take the time to look.
