New Home Party Business

<< Susan Boyle Gets Her Chance  Birthday Dinner at Morton's >>

If you subscribe to Bill Glazer and Dan Kennedy’s NO B.S. Marketing Letter (www.freegiftfromdan.com) you might have noticed something on the back page of the April 2009 edition. In one paragraph, Dan writes this…

“In a consulting day this past month with a client, a successful business owner in process of becoming a real entrepreneur (they are not synonymous), we discussed — for the 3rd time — his plans for a start-up; a new company slightly linked to his present. It took three discussions to get past and through his understandable desire to merely move existent products from one to the other, even thought the new business’ economics require dramatically different profit margins, thus requiring modifying some and creating others from scratch, which is going to require a mountainous amount of rather painful detail work. The idea for this business is sound, timely and could very well prove worth tens of millions of dollars over just the first few years. But the unpleasant truth is, such grandiose ideas, such visionary ideas have no value unless in the hands of someone willing to attend to thousands of pesky little details.”

Dan did not mention my name, but this paragraph is about me and my new home party business. The main reason I’m sharing this with you is to illustrate the constant need for a business to reinvent itself, to find new ways to market or in some cases start new businesses to promote or feed off your current business. No, its not easy. As Dan says, it will be a very large mountain for me to climb and the details to be attended to are numerous. However, I am someone who is “willing to attend to thousands of pesky little details.”

But, the stars have aligned and I have the right people at the right time to help me with this, including Dan, who will be a big part of the success of this business.

This is the opportunity that I will present to a limited number of distributors during the Friday before the Customer Appreciation Event in September. I will present this business, lay everything out, show the money to be made and answer any questions before I present this to the rest of the country through national advertising. I will send out details of this discovery day later. The room we are going to hold this in on that Friday seats 50. That evening, those who get involved will have dinner at Morton’s with me and Nancy and Dan Kennedy and his wife Carla. There we will have more discussion about this opportunity, how to market this new business, more details in how you will make money, etc.

I have a lot to do between now and September to get this ready for you. I’m very excited about this business and it will be the most work I’ve every done on anything.

I always thought of myself as an entrepreneur, but, Dan is right, I’m a business man. I might have been an entrepreneur when I started this business and I might have been an entrepreneur when I began building websites for distributors nine years ago, but then I just resorted to the day to day running of a business. This is an important lesson and distinction. Even though you start a business, you have to keep being an entrepreneur. Keep finding new ways to expand your business or create new ones. Try not to limit your activities, even though they seem to take up all your time, to just running your business. Create and expand, over and over.
