People need to think about what they are doing, where they are going, etc. etc. Shouldn't have had the big purse, should've payed attention where she was parking and her surroundings. But it's never too late to start thinking and paying attention!

Mike,

Great advice. Sad as it is, we are living in a jungle, there are real life predators out there waiting to take advantage of us. We have to act accordingly.

Take the element of surprise away from the "mooks" by being aware of your surroundings at all times, don't put yourself in a vulnerable position, never get boxed in, be mentally and physically prepared to protect yourself. Pretend there are no police to help you. Have a plan to protect yourself while waiting for the police. If you have to walk to your car or home in the dark for instance, think about the areas of the walk that are dangerous and then formulate a mental plan as to how you would avoid an attack. Play it over in your mind and then, if it were ever to happen, you would automatically react and not freeze up.

In addition to the mental plan you do need a self defense product like pepper spray, a stun gun or the ultimate protection, the C2 Taser. In Mary's situaion a stunning ring would have been a good choice because she could quickly activate it. There are so many self protection aids out there, you just have to pick one, know how to use it and have it at the ready.

By the way Mike, what is the origin of "Mook"? Is it an Eastcoast term? I'm sure it's kinda like an "AH".

Be safe, not sorry.
