Building your list is so important to your success on the Internet. But, its not easy to do. I want to help you grow a huge list.

We just completed an interview with Bryan Buckner for the next newsletter who is consistently, month to month, one of my most successful distributors. He mentions in the interview that he has over 19,000 subscribers on his list. Is it any wonder that he is one of my top distributors?

If you want to be successful, do what successful people do. It ain’t rocket science! But, it does require you taking action and I have a way to make it easier for you.
I’m always telling members of my Coaching Club that emphasis should be on building their list. But, you can’t just ask people to sign up…you need to bribe them. Even though its free to sign up for your list, you still have to sell it.

I suggest they create a report or video that will be downloadable to entice a visitor to their website to sign up for their list.

However, very few do it.

So, in my continuing efforts to make things as simple as possible for my distributors, I found someone who has an affiliate program for his products and makes reports available to his affiliate that they can give away.

The beauty of this, is not only are you giving away a free report to get people to sign up for your list, but you can actually earn an affiliate commission if they happen to follow the affiliate link in the report

You are going to need to sign up for his affiliate program at https://paydotcom.com/a.page.php?id=100083&u=tactselfdefense. The link will direct you to the “getting started page” of the Secrets of Street Fighting Affiliate Program. This page will give you the complete details of his affiliate program and what you will need to do to get started. You can also sign in here anytime to check out your stats.

His product prices range from $7-$247 with a commission of 30% for each sale you bring in regardless of what product is sold.

His article “The 6 S’s of Street Fighting ” can be downloaded from this page plus there are a few other articles that you can use as well. All of the articles will automatically have your affiliate id built in so all you have to do is upload it onto your site.

He will pay commissions though PayPal so you will need a PayPal account. His affiliate program is managed by PayDotCom.com so you will need to get a free PayDotCom account. He explains all this to you.

I was hoping this was a two tier affiliate program that paid on two levels. That means while you’re making your 30%, I would be making 10% for every sale you generated. But, alas…his program only pays on one level so, I make no money. Oh well!

I’m sure there are other relevant affiliate programs out there that offer free reports as a way of promoting their product. Start looking for them and watch your list grow when you give visitors to your website a good reason to join up.

Many of my distributors are using Google Adwords to generate immeditate traffic to their websites. There is nothing wrong with this except most are doing it all wrong.

There are many Adwords systems out there and its important that you find one you like and understand and follow it. One I’ve recommended for years is Perry Marshalls which you can get at www.perrysgoogleadwords.com.

Basic things you should be doing are:
- building a huge keyword list
- adding negative keyword phrases (phrases you don’t want to be charged for, like ‘free stun guns’ or competitors stun gun brands)
- setting up Google Anlytics to track everything
- setting up separate ad groups for each primary keyword phrase (stun guns, pepper sprays, personal alarms, hidden cameras, etc)
- bidding high in the beginning to get a lot of click throughs to increase your Quality Score
- sending visitors to the relevant web page (not usually the home page)
- using spy tools to find out what competitor keyword phrases and ads are converting

The above are things you should definitely be doing. But, there are others.

One tool I will share with everyone is the Google Desktop Adwords Editor. Its free and will really help you keep your Google Adwords campaigns organized. It also makes it very easy to do bulk changes to your campaigns, set up negative keywords, etc. Click here to download

Oh, one more tip. The average visits to your website before a visitor buys is 7. You shouldn’t expect people, you drive to your website using Google Adwords, to buy on their first visit. That’s why your main focus should be getting them to sign up for your mailing list so you can continue to market and develop a relationship with them. The money is in the list. Do not fight this. Just accept it. Do whatever you can to entice someone to join your list.

OK, one more tip. You can check to see how many people are actually signing up from your Google Adwords campaign by creating Goals in Google Analytics.

We had a great Question and Answer call on Saturday (yesterday). There were over 200 people on the call and I answered questions for 2 1/2 hours. Best participation we ever had.

And it wasn’t just me answering questions and giving help. Several distributors jumped in and shared what is working for them and gave great advice.

Marketing was the topic — both online and offline.

We talked about Web 2.0 and how to use it to generate traffic. How you can hire people to do the Web 2.0 work if you want to.

We talked about using magnetic signs, t-shirts and caps to generate traffic to websites and advertise your business. A good resource for magnetic signs, business cards, t-shirts and caps, www.vistaprint.com, was given by one of the participants.

Home parties were discussed and how it was necessary to have multiple follow ups with people to get them to attend. Not just one invitation or flyer.

We talked about using scarcity when selling to groups. If you give self defense talks or home parties, always have less products than people. For instance, if you are conducting a home party and there are 10 people there, only take 8 of each of the products. And when it comes time to sell the products, always let them know you don’t have enough for everyone. Scarcity will increase your sales.

When selling face to face, whether its a home party or to individuals, its always best to have the product with you rather than trying to sell from the catalog. These products are high impulse. If you get them in front of people you will sell them.

I’m very proud of the distributors who took the time to not only be on the call, but to participate with questions and good advice.

If you were on the call, and you have something positive to say about the call, please email it to me and I will share it with everyone. Sometimes you have to try just as hard to sell something that’s free as something that is paid. So, if you can email your comments to mike@safetytechnology.com, I will use your words to try and encourage more people to be on the next call.

I have these question and answer calls every month. Try your best to be on the next one. You being there will make a difference.

80% of all people who inquire about a product buy it within one year…but not usually from the company they originally contacted. The means you are probably educating people so that can eventually buy from your competitors.

You can make sure this doesn’t happen by staying in front of all your potential customers. The cheapest way to do this is by using an autoresponder and frequently sending them messages by email. This constantly reminds your potential customer who you are and insures that when they do get ready to buy, they will buy from you.

The mistake most marketers make, is delegating the influencing of the buyer, to the buyer. They mistakenly assume that the buyer will maintain his own interest instead of doing everything they can to make sure the buyer stays interested and eventually buys from them.

There are several steps to being successful on the Internet:

1. Have a web site that reflects your personality. Add a picture, put up copy that tells your customers something about yourself. People buy from people they know and like.

2. Have a form on your web site to collect first names and email addresses. It helps to give your visitors an incentive to sign up for your list.

3. Get traffic to your website. You can do this by paying for the traffic or using various methods to get free traffic.

4. This is the most important step and one that most people have a problem with. You email your list everyday. What you say in the emails, the thing you should do in every email to make sure your list eagerly awaits your next email and how to overcome the resistance to writing and how to find ideas to write about, are things we cover in the Coaching Club.

If you aren’t collecting names and email addresses and if you’re not communicating to your list on a regular basis, in an entertaining way, you are losing a bunch of money. You are also wasting the time and money you are spending on getting traffic to your website.

Hope this moves you to start doing the most important thing you can to increase your sales – build a list and email it everyday.
