But, then my business changed.  People were looking for an opportunity to start selling.  Some of those people wanted to sell to their local gun stores and pawn shops.  In an effort to not compete with my distributors, I stopped going after gun stores and pawn shops.  It was a business decision that was a mistake. 

Yes, I had distributors who successfully sold to gun stores and pawn shops, but there was a problem.  Whenever they ran up against one of my competitors, they couldn’t compete.  So, that gun store or pawn shop went to my competitors who did not have the same concerns about protecting their distributors.

I’m not criticizing them.  They did the right thing for their business.  Me, I’m probably losing, without exaggeration, over a half million dollars in sales every year and I’ve lost if for the past 10 years.

There are over 6000 gun stores in this country, and this isn’t counting all the pawn shops and locksmiths.  If I only picked up 500 of these gun stores, less than 10% of them, and they only spent $100 a month with me (a very conservative amount) in stun guns, pepper sprays, Tasers, etc, that is $600,000 a year in sales.

Now, I’m facing a similar situation.

I am developing a plan to present this opportunity directly to gun stores.  I will use direct mail to contact all gun stores, pawn shops and locksmiths in the country.  A side benefit to this is that once I get my foot in the door with the hidden camera rental opportunity, there is no doubt that many gun stores will start buying their pepper spray, stun guns and Tasers for me also.
