Butterfly Knives No More

<< They Get It Right In The Show Me State  How To Hit A Triple On A Skell >>

Safety Technology will not sell butterfly knives anymore.

The federal government seems to be interpreting the Federal Switchblade Knife Act, 15 U.S.C. SS1241-1245, to include butterfly knives.

There’s no rush by them to go after companies selling butterfly knives, but the handwriting is on the wall.

We will continue to sell the stock we have but will not reorder.  Most of the manufacturers and importers we deal with for knives are not going to be bringing
them into the States anymore.

Mike.

Nothing new about that. They make subjective laws so bureaucrats can “define” them at will and “enforce” them. It happened to me in the sixties when I was selling six-shot tear gas guns that looked like .25 automatics. They “redefined” them and the importers stopped importing them, putting me out of business. Too bad. I was selling them so fast, I couldn’t keep them in stock.

Thanks for that Mike, I also had problems with Google Adwords with knives. They won’t let you advertise a switchblade or butterfly knife. I can only advertise the folding knives.

That really sucks. Whats so dangerous about butterfly knives vs regular knives anyhow? I think a 9 inch fixed is a little worse than a butterfly but what do I know?
