A Easter Thought About Self Defense
Religion is always a difficult subject when you have distributors of all religions. So, I try not to voice my opinion about it. I don’t know if you are a Christian and I don’t know if you honor the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, I believe there is a vibrational change in the world when these momentous and important religious dates are celebrated. And I just don’t mean just for Christians.
Now, I’m going to do what I just said I don’t do — give my opinion on a religious matter. I do so with no intent of offending anyone. This is just my opinion.
The reason that I’m voicing this opinion is I have distributors who believe in turning the other cheek. Because of that belief, they do not feel that people should defend themselves with products like stun guns or pepper sprays, but should be content with personal alarms and other non-injury items.
I find it difficult that they could tell a woman in the process of being raped, to turn the other cheek, or not use anything at her disposal to protect herself. So, since they brought Jesus into the discussion, I’m giving my opinion.
I do not believe Jesus would want you to passively stand by and be wrongly injured by someone. Or, for you to stand by and not defend someone being wrongly injured.
The strength and courage of Jesus is not in question. He submitted to humiliation and crucifixion when, with a glance, he could have destroyed not just his persecutors, but the whole world.
We have the example of the money changers at the temple and Jesus chasing them out with a whip. We also have his opinion about carrying arms to protect yourself.
At the last supper, Luke 22: 36-38 –Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take [it], and likewise [his] scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
And they said, Lord, behold, here [are] two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
Also, later that evening when he was about to be arrested, Luke 22: 49-51 –When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
The point is that the disciples of Jesus were armed with his blessing. And, when Simon Peter cut off the ear of the servant of the high priest, he did what was right for him to do. He defended Jesus and Jesus did not rebuke him for doing so.
Your life is precious and it deserves defending. No one has the right to hurt you, but you do have the right to defend yourself and the ones you love.
Sometimes I forget why I got into this business. I am in this business because I strongly believe that people have the right…no, not just the right… but the duty to protect themselves and the ones they love.
I believe you are in this business for the same reason. Maybe you haven’t thought about it much lately. Maybe now is a good time to.
SafetyMode Systems - Pepper spray, stun guns, tasers, surveillance cameras, hidden cameras, and more.
I agree totally…and I am a Christian as well. Self defense is a duty…sure we should do what we can to avoid trouble, but there are times when you’ve done what you can and it’s time to take action!
Mace Pepper Gel, Stun Gun,
Yes I Agree 100%. GOD gave us common sence to take care of ourselves with the help of our guardian Angel. Plus we are selling non lethal items, but i understand that some people believe differently. Thats what I love about America, the freedom of speech.
personal motion alarms
Total agreement. You don’t have to shoot your attacker, just get them to stop. Maybe prison time will help them figure out how to fit into society.
Best Stun Gun
I agree with you 110% and I LOVE the fact that you’re not afraid to say what you think and believe.
I also am a Christian, however I possess a CCW as well as sell your products and I do not look at it as
or intend for them to be used as things to “Hurt” people. I see it as preventing harm to yourself and/or family.
If an intruder enters my home and threatens myself or family, he IS going to get hurt. But not because I or my wife is eager to
inflict pain on him.
Maybe if more people would open there eyes to reality there may be a few less ‘victims’ in the world.
Thanks for everything you do.

I was a Metro transit operator in seattle for the last 5 years. I saw murders, robberies, sexual assualts, and crimes against helpless victims everyday.
Unfortunately the helpless victims were for the most part of the opinion that “it will never happen to me” as opossed to “god wouldn’t want me to hurt anyone”.
In the end they still got victimized because the chose not to be protected.
Buy pepper spray, mace, tasers.
I agree with your statement and I feel it is a crime not to defend yourself and your loved ones. It is your duty to protect those that can not protect them selfs.

completely agree!

Amen to your blog! It just makes good sense to be prepared if someone tries to harm you or your family.
Fight to Survive
As a cop I see the horrors of crime from just about every angle. Criminals prey on those that cannot, or will not, fight back. It is like admitting defeat to refuse to fight back. Anyone who thinks that a career crook can’t tell the sheep from the wolves is gravely mistaken. I just hope that those that want to “turn the other cheek” are not harmed. The police and “wolves” of the bunch cannot be everywhere all the time to protect them. Survival is first and foremost about self-protection.

This reminds me of a conversation I recently had with my 9 year old son. He mentioned a bully at school who had been picking on some of his friends. I told him that he had a right to defend himself and he wouldn’t be in trouble if he did so. He worried that if he defended himself he would be in trouble at school. I tried to explain that there is a distinction between self defense and aggression. Unfortunately many adults don’t seem to get this distinction, and many of these adults work in the school system. I told him that it’s better to protect yourself and get punished than to incur physical harm and stay in the good graces of the school principal.

Amen, Mike! You said it well. I’m going to print this out and take it to the meetings I have with church groups where this usually comes up! Thank you!

As a military man I agree that people must be able to defend themselves. Each person should pick a weapon of choice no matter what it is, stun gun, handgun etc.

E.S.S.S. Helpful Hints & Phrases To Keep You
‘Tuned In’ to Crime and Prepare You For the Holidays:
1.Be Aware-Always pay attention who’s in front-back of you and any ‘out of the
ordinary’ behavior or body language.
2.Be Informed-Where are high crime areas near where you’ll be? Try to avoid
these areas if possible, if you can’t then:
3.Be prepared-Crooks will be attracted to high volume shopping areas. Just in
case, at the very least, you should carry a ‘screech alarm’ AND HAVE IT ON
YOU AT ALL TIMES! It does no good in the glove-box!
4.’Buddy-up’ Crooks generally choose the easiest target; 1 is easier than 2!
5.To be aware, you have to look up, right? Don’t act like like an easy target by
looking at the ground, make eye contact to any one around you. Try to act
confident but remember, keep that screech alarm handy AT ALL TIMES!
We wish everyone a safe, enjoyable holiday and please don’t hesitate to
report any crimes or suspicious activities; switch places (in your mind)
for a moment, it should change any thoughts of ‘non involvement’.

I’m shocked! If she thought that way from the beginning I would have said to her you picked the wrong business. Self defense is not a real hard word to understand, you do what even you need to do to protect your family no question’s asked.

I’m not surprised. I encounter this reaction often. Like Mike, I believe we all have a RIGHT to defend ourselves. Which also means that we have the RIGHT to NOT defend ourselves. Therefore, it is all about CHOICE. I work hard to provide my clients with info & tools to help them make CHOICES about their personal safety but I actively promote DEFENDING YOURSELF & OTHERS.

That is a very scary trait to possess. A trait where you don’t want to hurt anyone-even in your own defense, or in the defense of your loved ones. But thats the unfortunate caratheristic of most woman. They don’t want to hurt anyone, not even their attacker. If you have a wife or, daughter, get serious. You will literally have to teach them to protect themselves.
Because women are more connected to love and nurturing and are more likely than men to be navie about their safety, as well as more susceptible and vulnertable to an attacker, they need to be talked to more aggressive.
God created woman to balance out those missing emotions lackened by the male spies.
Men, this is why you will literly need to teach the wife and daughter to be more aggressive in this area of defending themselves. Some females had almost rather suffer their own demise, than to cause the demise of their attacker, or to cause him to suffer. Even when they are defending themselves, or their loved ones.
That is why most women does not carry any self defense weapons. And that is why so many females die unneccessary deaths at the hands of their attacker.
So husbands, and Dads, pay particular attention to making sure you talk with the wives and daughters about protecting themselves. About fighting back to save their own lives.
Be reminded that self defense is like wearing a seatbelt. The moment you don’t have it, is the moment you will need it.

Pepper spray and stun guns don’t actually hurt anyone. They may cause some pain but the effects go away after a while and there is no injury. They are not weapons, they only buy you time to get away.
Being truly ethical, moral and for some, devout Christian people, that’s the reason for them to buy and us to sell these particular “personal protection” products.
tasergun effects
Non-lethal weapons are just that-non-lethal. I don’t believe in taking the life of another, but I do believe in protecting my own and that of my loved ones and if carrying a non-lethal weapon accomplishes this, then I will buy and carry one and sell to others for the same reason!

Very insightful and good way to explain the value of non-lethal personal protection
Self defense technologies
I am a Christian and I do believe that there is no conflict between my faith and these products. Jesus instucts us not to “return evil for evil”. These products enable someone to prevent a lethal attack without returning lethal force. I believe this is exactly how Jesus would want someone to respond in an attack situation.
Bob
Jesus also said, Render to ceasar, what is ceasars and to God what is God’s. Ceasar had an army that killed other armies which Jesus understood was protection for the country. He never told Ceasar it was wrong. The products that are sold in these catologs protect, they do not kill anyone.

CHRIST DIED FOR US AND HE DID SAY TURN THE OTHER CHEEK BUT HE DIDN’T WANT US TO INCUR BODILY HARM AND AS A CHAPLAIN I intend to protect myself against bodily harm.
James
I made a few typos on the previous post so I am re-posting and placing a title with this one!
“They don’t call it violent crime for nothing!”
Jesus was talking about his return in Matthew, but He often spoke in a way that people would be able to understand more easily! When he spoke of his return he spoke of it as being prepared! What did the people understand about being prepared? They understood that they should be prepared in case their home was broken into! Here is what Jesus said:
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. (Matthew 24: 42-43)
I was a United States Marine! I used a weapon to defend my country! I am a Christian and I use a weapon in the defense of my family! The one I have now is on-lethal, yet a weapon! How do we protect our family? Well let’s see what Paul say about that! In Ephesians 5:25 Paul writes: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR HER! Christ took the punishment of sin and laid his life down for the church! So, whether in a marriage, relationship or just in a family setting we should follow the same example and be willing to lay our lives down to protect our family!
Who did Christ say was his family? He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”(Matthew 12:48-50). He later called his disciples his “friends.” What did Jesus say was the greatest love one could have for his friends?
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)! Protection of our friends and family is not a right, it is a duty!
Our Founding Fathers thought so as well! They were Christians, some were even ministers! They understood tyranny! They also understood, as in the famous words of Benjamin Franklin, that we all must hang together or we shall surely hang separately! They knew that words on paper would not complete the task that was set before them! They picked up weapons and defended themselves from tyranny!
We have the same tyranny facing us today with violent crime! We can choose to disobey our Christian teachings and the principles upon which our country was founded, or we can obey and remember what we have been taught and the principles passed down to us! Remember disobedience has its consequences, just as obedience has its reward! Yahweh says it this way in Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live! Which will you choose?
personal protection devices
According to Rabbi Daniel Lapin, a famous talk show host, we have the right to defend ourselves, our loved ones, and our property. One of the Ten Commandments should read, “Thou shall not murder,” instead of “Thou shall not kill.”
Taser X26
I would have a hard time understanding anyone who would take offense to the opinion you expressed, Mike. Yet I suppose there are those who take passiveness to the extreme. It is one thing to turn the other cheek to avoid a confrontational situation; and quite another to stand by and do nothing when imminent danger is upon you that threatens your safety and the safety of others. What mother would not defend her child, or what husband would not jump to the aid of his wife being attacked or molested? In my opinion, a non-lethal weapon like a stun gun, taser, or pepper spray is a logical choice for any person. Unlike a gun, a knife, or even a right-cross to the jaw, these self defense products do no bodily injury, yet temporarily disable an attacker allowing you time to get away and reach safety. Jesus looks to gather us among his flock, but his teachings say nothing that we must succumb to being sheep. Stay strong in your faith, but remember also that God helps those who help themselves.

Clearly a profit 2000 years ago, given by they highest power, wanted all to favor a gentle spirit towards mankind. This is of course possible both then and now. None of us are perfect and by his word all are forgiven. We are forgiven because the value of life will be feircely protected by common man. These products do not take life, they keep it from being taken.

I agree whole heartily. It just makes sense to be prepared if someone tries to hurt you or your family.
David and Lynne Crowley
Good morning Michael! This is David .
Please excuse our Website, it’s under construction approaching “Launch day soon!”
Thank you for the nice article! Both, Lynne and I are christians. As parents to four wonderful children, 2xboys and 2xgirls, it’s our duty to protect and ensure they have every opportunity to live a happy and productive life as the lord would want.
Like you, I’m retired from the United States Army in the intelligence business. I have been deployed around the world and I know first hand, that there are lawless individuals and/or groups out there who just thrieve on hurting and even killing innocent men, women and children.
It is my believe that we are not just obligated, but we have a duty to intervene to protect human life period. We should all look to the lord for guidance and faith. I’m sorry to say, that there are folks out here that will hurt you without blinking an eye. Everyone, has the right to protect their own families and property. But you have an obligation and a right to protect that of innocent third parties who can’t defend themselfs!!!
Again, Thank you and God Bless! Your friends,
David and Lynne Crowley

I really agree with this post. Nobody has the right to hurt me and sometimes people don’t think about this until something happens to them or someone they know. Knowing about these different products and telling others about them is important because everyone has the right to protect themselves and hopefully before something does happen.
self defense pepper spray
Pepper spray and stun guns for self defense are non lethal. They won’t kill anyone, but will make a perp sorry he ever messed with you or your loved one.
